Abstract<\/span><\/p>

Climate change in the Kumaon Himalaya can significantly affect farmers in various ways. Shifts in temperature and precipitation patterns may impact crop yields, disrupt traditional farming practices, and lead to increased vulnerability. Changes in water availability and the melting of glaciers can affect irrigation, essential for agriculture in the region. Additionally, the altered climate may influence the prevalence of pests and diseases, posing further challenges to crop production. Overall, adapting to these changes is crucial for sustaining agricultural livelihoods in the Kumaun Himalaya. The present study is based on both primary and secondary data survey to highlight the impact on farmers livelihood pattern in the study area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The present study holds significant implications for global understanding. The present research offers valuable insights by examining the effect of climate change pattern on agricultural practices as well as on rural economy in the study region. The findings of the study describe the various challenges faced by farmers due to the climate change do that it can be helpful for policy makers, agricultural extension services and community-based organizations to know the region better. This knowledge can be beneficial for the development and implementation of targeted interventions i.e., diversification of crops, measures for conservation of water, and for alternate livelihood options.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Dr. Jitendra Kumar Lohani<\/span> is Assistant Professor in Department of Economics, D.S.B. Campus, Kumaun University, Nainital (Uttarakhand). He has also presented a number of papers in National and International conferences. Also, he has organized a webinar in the department. He was UG Syllabus Preparation & Expert Committee (Economics) for NEP-2020 (Uttarakhand). He is also a reviewer of a reputed National peer-reviewed journal and also awarded with Y.P.S.
