Abstract<\/span><\/p>

The inseparable needs for close collaboration between institutions offering mechanical technology education and allied industries was the focus of the study. Occupationally, contents of courses offered in this field and similar other are supposed to be industry-derived and society needs-compliant. This has for some time, not been seen to be so, and has therefore, created some input-output deficits that have not only affected students\u2019 performance and society benefits, but have significantly affected students\u2019 enrolments into the programmes negatively. Two research questions and two research hypotheses were raised to guide this study. Survey design using structured research instruments were developed by the researchers on collaboration between academic institutions and industries. Population of this study will be 50 Lecturers in Mechanical and Automobile Technology drawn from Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in the Southwest, Nigeria, alongside 42 industry practicing experts in the same fields were involved in this study. Research questions were answered with Mean and Standard Deviation while t-test was used for the hypotheses. Based on the emanating outcomes of the analysis and discussions followed, it was recommended that functional channels of communication should be opened between academia and industry for meaningful interaction, make partnership an occupational policy and constantly share resources among others.<\/span><\/p>

The research study focused on how learning synergy between related industries and academic institutions can help to enhance the enabling strategies for easy, timely and qualitative attainment of the various mandates or objectives that both have been saddled to achieve, complementing each other\u2019s efforts. The major import of this collaboration was the need to develop occupational procedures, methods and approaches so as to give to the society the much-desired service, develop and sustain institutions of production for human and environmental sustainability<\/span><\/p>

AJAO ADEYEMI S.<\/span><\/p>

Adeyemi Ajao hails from Lagelu Local Government Area in Oyo State, Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>

Born in Ikate, Surulere, Lagos. He attended <\/span>Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba, Lagos<\/span>, 1983-86, the British Royal Premier Technical Institution, \u201c<\/span>City and Guilds Institute, London<\/span>\u201d, where he studied Automobile Technology, 1988-92, served in the National Youth Service Corps 1993-94, where he was awarded a commendation certificate for meritorious national service.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0Ajao also attended the <\/span>University of Calabar<\/span> where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM, 1999-2000), , after which he studied at <\/span>Lagos State University<\/span> (2000-2002), where he was awarded \u201cMaster in Transport Planning (MTP). Professional Teachers\u2019 Certificate (TTC) from FCET, Akoka, Lagos. Ajao later studied at the <\/span>University of Education, Winneba, Ghana<\/span>, for his academic Master\u2019s Degree in Science and Technology Education (Automobile Technology Option), where he was a Master\u2019s Medalist (2012).<\/span><\/p>

Ajao Adeyemi attended <\/span>Tai-Solarin University of Education<\/span>, Ijebu-Ode, where he studied Industrial and Technical Education (Mechanical Technology Option) with a second class (Upper), Honours degree (2018\/19. He further studied for his PhD in Technical Education (Auto Tech. Option) at <\/span>Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>
